Pre-CTE Automotive Service
Grades 9 – 12

Young professionals in grades 9-12 will learn basic principles and practices necessary for employment in the automotive maintenance, basic repair and minor auto collision repair fields. This program will provide young professionals with experiential training as well as classroom instruction suited for diverse learning styles. Young professionals will train in basic vehicle maintenance including basic electrical and brake repair. Instruction in interior and exterior detailing is also provided. This program will prepare young professionals for job placement or and/or into the CTE Automotive Tech, Auto Collision Repair, Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanics, or Marine Technology Program to further their education.

Automotive Reconditioner (Detailer)
- Apply Appropriate Safety Precautions
- Appropriate Use of Supplies and Equipment
- Prepare Vehicle for Washing & Cleaning
- Degreasing/Detailing engine Compartment
Automotive Repair Technician (Vehicle Maintenance)
- Perform Tire Dismount and Mounting
- Perform Oil, Filter & Chassis Lube
- Proper Hoisting & Jacking
- Perform Tire Rotation & Wheel torque Procedures
- Services Automotive Batteries – Cleaning Connections & Testing
- Inspecting All Fluids for Proper Levels and Contamination
Automotive Repair Tech (Brakes)
- Replace Break Pads & Shoes
- Replace Brake Hoses
- Bleed Brake System
- Replace Wheel Cylinders
- Replace Emergency Brake Cables
Automotive Repair Technician (Electrical)
- Repair Wiring, Solder & Heat Shrink Insulation
- Use Tester to Evaluate Battery, Starter and Alternator Condition
- Disassemble/Assemble & Test Alternator
- Perform Headlamp System Repair
- Use V.O.M to Measure Circuit Resistance & Voltage Drop
